Heritage Estate Bungalow
At The Hundred House by Kisah Stays, you step into a rhythm. Mornings begin with mist rolling over tea fields, plantation paths under your feet, and the quiet pulse of estate life unfolding around you in the hills of Tourimala, Wayanad. At the heart of this landscape stands over a 100 year old British bungalow, carefully restored. Wide verandahs that frame rolling plantations, and rooms that feel private rather than performative. But the house is only the anchor.

The real experience lies beyond its walls. Sunrise walks toward Thovarimala, afternoons that stretch without urgency. Here, heritage is not displayed. It is inhabited. Experience warm local hospitality, linger over simple moments, the flash of a giant Malabar squirrel in the trees, the steady call of the coppersmith barbet, the soft presence of the red-whiskered bulbul. Here, time is not rushed; it is observed, appreciated, and quietly celebrated.
The colonial architecture of The Hundred House has been carefully restored, preserving its original character while allowing it to breathe with quiet elegance. Wide verandas open out to rolling hills, where mornings and evenings are best spent with a cup of tea, watching light move across the landscape and the towering African tulip tree stand gracefully in the garden. Vast lawns stretch around the bungalow, inviting slow walks and long pauses. Inside, the experience is completed with comforting local cuisine, thoughtfully prepared by our experienced local chef, bringing the flavours of the region to your table with warmth and care.

The plantation surrounding The Hundred House unfolds as a rich, living landscape of tea, pepper, avocado, and mangosteen, inviting you to experience estate life at a gentle pace. Wander through shaded paths, listen to the calls of wildlife, and set out on small treks that reveal the quiet beauty of the land. For the more adventurous, a walk to Ezhuthupara offers a deeper journey, nearly two hours through the estate, leading to ancient rock inscriptions that speak of the region’s distant past, where nature, history, and time come together in rare harmony.
